Audi S3 8V Tuning: Stage 1 and Stage 2 from Your Phone
The Audi S3 8V is one of the most rewarding platforms for software tuning in the VW Group, because its 2.0 engine with the engine code EA888 Gen3 leaves plenty of headroom in the maps. With the NGM App you flash calibrated Stage 1 and Stage 2 files onto the engine control unit yourself through the OBD2 port, with no workshop appointment, no ECU removal and no chip swap. Both generations are supported: the S3 8V Pre-Facelift with 300 hp built from 2012 to 2016 and the S3 8V Facelift with 300-310 hp built from 2017 to 2020.
Legal note: driving with optimized maps is not permitted on public roads. The files are intended exclusively for use on closed race tracks. The optimization can void the vehicle's type approval and the manufacturer warranty, and you use it at your own risk.
Audi S3 8V Stage 1 and Stage 2: Figures for Pre-Facelift and Facelift
Each generation gets its own file, calibrated precisely for that variant. At the top end, both S3 generations line up identically:
- S3 8V Pre-Facelift (2.0, 300 hp and 380 Nm stock, 2012-2016): Stage 1 up to 375 hp and 490 Nm, Stage 2 up to 390 hp and 510 Nm
- S3 8V Facelift (2.0, 300-310 hp and 380 Nm stock, 2017-2020): Stage 1 up to 375 hp and 490 Nm, Stage 2 up to 390 hp and 510 Nm
Please note: all maximum power figures were measured with 102 octane fuel and represent the maximum achievable output.
Both stages come together in the All-in-One license for the engine control unit. It is delivered as a download, bound by VIN to exactly one vehicle, and the app assigns the correct file to your S3 automatically.
Audi S3 8V Pops and Bangs: The Sound License
For many owners the stronger S3 also deserves the matching soundtrack. The separate Sound license adds the crackles function to your S3 8V, pops and bangs on the overrun. You can combine it with Stage 1 or Stage 2 or run it completely independently of the performance stages. It is flashed through the same NGM OBD Adapter and the same app, and like every license it is bound by VIN to exactly one vehicle. The sound functions are also intended for closed tracks only.
How Audi S3 8V Software Tuning Works
You do not need a workshop to tune your S3 8V, the whole process runs from your phone in four steps:
- Plug the NGM OBD Adapter into the OBD2 port of your S3.
- Open the NGM App on your iOS or Android phone and connect it to the adapter.
- The app reads the VIN and automatically detects whether you drive a Pre-Facelift or a Facelift.
- Choose your license and start the flash, the file goes straight onto the engine control unit.
Every license is valid for exactly one vehicle, bound by its VIN. Data for the Audi S3 8V is usually available right away. Only if the NGM App has never been used with your vehicle and the data has to be prepared first does it typically take around 5 days, at most 14.
