Skoda Octavia RS Tuning with the NGM App
The Skoda Octavia RS has more in it than the factory maps allow, and the NGM App is built to unlock exactly that. Instead of handing your car to a workshop, you flash optimized engine software yourself: over the OBD2 port, controlled from your phone, with Stage 1 and Stage 2 files for both the Pre-Facelift (2013-2016) and the Facelift (2017-2020). Depending on the stage, your Octavia RS reaches up to 320 hp instead of the stock 220 or 245 hp.
The legal side, stated clearly: driving with optimized maps is not permitted on public roads. It is reserved for closed race tracks. Software tuning can also void your vehicle's type approval and your manufacturer warranty. You use it at your own risk.
Skoda Octavia RS Stage 1 and Stage 2: The Numbers
Both engine variants of the tuned Octavia RS run to the same Stage 1 and Stage 2 targets, but start from different baselines:
- Octavia RS Pre-Facelift, 2.0 (220-230 hp, 2013-2016): from 220 hp and 350 Nm to 300 hp and 460 Nm with Stage 1, or 320 hp and 500 Nm with Stage 2.
- Octavia RS Facelift, 2.0 (245 hp, 2017-2020): from 245 hp and 370 Nm to 300 hp and 460 Nm with Stage 1, or 320 hp and 500 Nm with Stage 2.
Please note: all maximum power figures were measured with 102 octane fuel and represent the maximum achievable output.
Both stages are covered by the All-in-One license. It is tied to your VIN and therefore to exactly one vehicle. Stage 1 and Stage 2 address the ECU, and on the Octavia RS the TCU as well.
More Than Power: The Sound License
Beyond pure performance, the Sound license adds an experience layer to your Octavia RS: crackles, better known as pops and bangs, for a noticeably sharper character on the track.
One honest limitation: vehicles with a manual gearbox that do not have drive profile selection cannot use the crackles function. Every other configuration of both generations is covered, so check your equipment before you decide.
How Flashing Your Octavia RS Works
Flashing your Octavia RS takes four steps: plug the NGM OBD Adapter into the OBD2 port, connect it to the NGM App on iOS or Android, let the app identify your car by its VIN, and start the flash. The adapter is a one-time purchase and the only hardware you need.
Vehicle data is usually available right away. Only if the NGM App has never been used with your specific vehicle does preparation take a little longer: typically around 5 days, at most 14 days.
