Audi TT S 8S Tuning: Flash Stage 1 and Stage 2 Yourself
The 2.0 EA888 in the Audi TT S 8S leaves plenty of performance on the table, and the NGM App lets you claim it without handing your car to anyone. Calibrated Stage 1 and Stage 2 files are written to the engine control unit through the OBD2 port, with no workshop appointment, no ECU removal and no chip swap. Three variants are covered: the TT S Pre-Facelift (2014-2017, 306-320 PS), the TT S Facelift (2018-2020, 306-320 PS) and the TT S Gen 4 (2020-2023, 306 PS). The latest facelift from model year 2024 onwards is no longer supported. All power figures on this page are metric PS.
Before you start: driving with optimized maps is not permitted on public roads. The files are intended solely for use on closed race tracks. The optimization can void the vehicle's type approval and the manufacturer warranty, and you use it at your own risk.
Audi TT S Stage 1 and Stage 2: Power Figures per Variant
Which numbers apply to your car depends on the engine generation: the EA888 Gen3 in the Pre-Facelift and Facelift receives different files than the EA888 Gen4 in the latest TT S. The app assigns your variant automatically based on the VIN.
- TT S Pre-Facelift (2.0 EA888 Gen3, 306-320 PS and 400 Nm stock, 2014-2017): Stage 1 up to 375 PS and 490 Nm, Stage 2 up to 390 PS and 510 Nm
- TT S Facelift (2.0 EA888 Gen3, 306-320 PS and 380 Nm stock, 2018-2020): Stage 1 up to 375 PS and 490 Nm, Stage 2 up to 390 PS and 510 Nm
- TT S Gen 4 (2.0 EA888 Gen4, 306 PS and 400 Nm stock, 2020-2023): Stage 1 up to 390 PS and 500 Nm, Stage 2 up to 440 PS and 570 Nm
Please note: all maximum power figures were measured with 102 octane fuel and represent the maximum achievable output.
Stage 1 and Stage 2 come bundled in the All-in-One license, delivered as a download and locked by VIN to exactly one vehicle. On the TT S Gen 4, TCU software is available as well for cars manufactured from January 2022 onwards; a tuning company first has to perform a one-time TCU bench unlock before you can install it.
Audi TT S Pops and Bangs: The Sound License
The right soundtrack completes the package. The separate Sound license adds pops and bangs (crackles) to your TT S, flashed with the same NGM OBD Adapter and the same app as the performance software. Like every NGM license it is a download bound to your VIN, and the sound functions too are meant exclusively for use on closed tracks.
How Audi TT S Tuning with the NGM App Works
From unboxing to fresh software it takes four steps:
- Plug the NGM OBD Adapter into the OBD2 port of your TT S. The adapter is a one-time purchase and the only hardware you need.
- Open the NGM App on your iOS or Android phone and pair it with the adapter.
- The app reads the VIN and automatically detects which TT S variant you drive.
- Choose your license and start the flash; the software is written straight to the control unit.
Vehicle data for the TT S is usually available right away. Only if the NGM App has never been used with your vehicle and the data has to be prepared first does it typically take around 5 days, 14 at most.
Audi TT S Tuning: Frequently Asked Questions
How much power does an Audi TT S make with Stage 1?
The TT S Pre-Facelift (2014-2017) and the TT S Facelift (2018-2020) reach up to 375 PS and 490 Nm with Stage 1, up from 306-320 PS stock. The TT S Gen 4 (2020-2023, 306 PS stock) climbs to up to 390 PS and 500 Nm. The file is matched to your exact variant via the VIN.
Is Audi TT S tuning with the NGM App legal on public roads?
No. Driving with optimized maps is not permitted on public roads; the files are intended solely for use on closed race tracks. The optimization can void the type approval and the manufacturer warranty, and you use it at your own risk.
Which Audi TT S models does the NGM App support?
Supported are the TT S Pre-Facelift (2014-2017) and the TT S Facelift (2018-2020), both with 306-320 PS, plus the TT S Gen 4 (2020-2023) with 306 PS. The latest facelift from model year 2024 onwards is no longer supported.
How much power does Stage 2 add to the Audi TT S?
The Pre-Facelift and Facelift reach up to 390 PS and 510 Nm with Stage 2. The TT S Gen 4 gains the most and goes up to 440 PS and 570 Nm. Both stages come with one and the same All-in-One license.
Can I flash the TCU on my Audi TT S as well?
On the TT S Gen 4, yes, provided your car was manufactured from January 2022 onwards. Before your first install, a tuning company needs to unlock the TCU on the bench, a step that happens only once. From then on you flash the TCU software with the NGM App like any other file.
What does Audi TT S tuning with the NGM App cost?
You will find the current prices in the license cards at the top of this page, shown in your currency. The All-in-One license and the Sound license are downloads bound to your VIN, plus the NGM OBD Adapter as a one-time purchase, the only hardware you need for flashing.
How soon can I flash my TT S after buying a license?
Usually right away, since vehicle data for the TT S is normally available immediately. Only if the NGM App has never been used with your vehicle and the data has to be prepared first does it typically take around 5 days and a maximum of 14 days.
