Porsche Macan Tuning: Flash Stage 1 and Stage 2 Yourself
Software tuning on the Porsche Macan does not require a workshop appointment or ECU removal when you use the NGM App. You flash calibrated Stage 1 and Stage 2 maps onto the engine control unit yourself through the OBD2 port, and the only hardware you need is the NGM OBD Adapter as a one-time purchase. Both generations of the Macan 2.0 TFSI with the EA888 Gen3 four-cylinder are supported: the Pre-Facelift with 252 PS built from 2014-2017 and the Facelift with 245 PS built from 2018-2020 (all power figures on this page are metric PS). There is no chip swap, the control unit stays in the car, and you run the whole process from your iOS or Android phone.
Legal note: driving with optimized maps is not permitted on public roads. The files are intended solely for use on closed race tracks. The optimization can void your vehicle's type approval and the manufacturer warranty, and you use it at your own risk.
Porsche Macan Stage 1 and Stage 2: The Figures for the 2.0 TFSI
Both Macan variants share the same base engine, yet the maps are calibrated separately for each generation. This is what your Macan can reach:
- Macan 2.0 TFSI Pre-Facelift (2.0, 252 PS and 370 Nm stock, 2014-2017): Stage 1 up to 300 PS and 460 Nm, Stage 2 up to 320 PS and 500 Nm
- Macan 2.0 TFSI Facelift (2.0, 245 PS and 370 Nm stock, 2018-2020): Stage 1 up to 300 PS and 460 Nm, Stage 2 up to 320 PS and 500 Nm
Please note: all maximum power figures were measured with 102 octane fuel and represent the maximum achievable output.
A curious detail: from the factory the Pre-Facelift is rated at 252 PS while the Facelift lists 245 PS, but after flashing both generations end up at identical maximum figures. Stage 1 and Stage 2 come bundled in the All-in-One license for the engine control unit (ECU). The license is a pure download bound to the VIN of exactly one vehicle, and the app recognizes your Macan automatically by that VIN.
Porsche Macan Pops and Bangs: The Sound License
A four-cylinder SUV can carry a bit more voice. The separate Sound license adds the crackles function (pops and bangs) to your Macan 2.0 TFSI, flashed through the same NGM OBD Adapter and the same app as the performance software. You can run it on top of Stage 1 or Stage 2 or completely independently of them. Like every license it is a download bound to your VIN, and the sound functions are likewise intended for closed tracks only.
How to Flash Your Porsche Macan with the NGM App
From unboxing to a finished flash it takes four steps, none of them in a workshop:
- Plug the NGM OBD Adapter into the OBD2 port of your Macan.
- Pair the NGM App on your iOS or Android phone with the adapter.
- The app reads the VIN and matches your Macan to the correct variant automatically.
- Choose your license and start the flash; the maps go straight onto the control unit.
Tuning data for the Porsche Macan is usually available immediately, so you can get going right after buying the license. Only if the NGM App has never been used with your vehicle and the data has to be prepared first does it typically take around 5 days, 14 days at most.
